Coaches' Corner
Team
Background:
The Maryland Judo Team began
in the fall of 1988, when several families attending a
summer judo class persuaded Mr. Dantzler to continue
teaching lessons during the school year. From that
initial group of five children, the club eventually grew
to become one of the most competitive youth teams on the
east coast. During the next 14 years, boys and girls from
the Maryland Judo Team achieved impressive tournament
results, medaling more than 100 times on the US national
and international stage.
In 2002, the club closed its
doors so that Mr. Dantzler could focus on his son's
judo training. From 2002-2009, Mr. Dantzler tutored
Connor in competitive judo, and acted as an assistant
instructor with other judo clubs in Maryland.
Today, the Maryland Judo
Team holds weekly practices in Montgomery County,
Maryland, and welcomes boys and girls of all ages. You
don't need to be an experienced athlete to find success
in judo. Come join us and see for yourself how far you
can go!
